Oleksandr Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), suggests that U.S. President Barack Obama, who has imposed sanctions on the DPR, could visit Donbas to see for himself what is happening there.

“U.S. President Barack Obama may come to Donbas and see what is happening here,” the Donetsk news agency cited Zakharchenko as saying on Dec.20.

Zakharchenko said he had absolutely no regrets that no one invited him to the U.S.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Dec.20 published a list of 24 citizens of Russia and Ukraine and organizations targeted by new U.S. sanctions. Among these individuals are, in particular, leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics Oleksandr Zakharchenko, Ihor Plotnytsky, and Oleh Tsariov, and also a number of militia commanders.
