Seven Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region when the truck they were traveling in hit a mine, the press center of the special operation headquarters in the conflict zone has reported.

“A GAZ-53 military truck hit a mine in the Krasnohorivka area near Donetsk on June 8 as it was traveling to fulfill a combat assignment. Seven Ukrainian troops were killed,” the press center said in a posting on Facebook.

The explosive device was tentatively identified as an anti-tank mine, planted by the militia.

Experts are working at the scene , the press center said.

Ukrainian presidential spokesman Yuriy Biriukov in turn said on Facebook that, “eight troops were killed in a day.” “The 130th reconnaissance battalion had a clash with a Donetsk reconnaissance group in Sector A last night. Seven sappers from the 28th brigade hit a mine during the day. They had been dispatched to lay a mine field,” he wrote.
