A group of 17 Ukrainian military servicemen has crossed into Russia and asked for shelter from combat actions, Nikolai Sinitsyn, a spokesman for the Federal Security Service (FSB) border department for the Rostov region, told Interfax on Saturday.

“Seventeen Ukrainian servicemen without weapons crossed into Russian Federation territory and asked for shelter from combat actions,” Sinitsyn said.

The Ukrainian servicemen have been placed in the border area and are undergoing a background check at the moment, Sinitsyn said.
