You're reading: Several parts of Donetsk region still without water

DEastern city Donetsk has problems with water supply as  Siversky Donets-Donbas Canal is working limited hours, the Donetsk regional state administration said on Aug.7, citing Donbas Water, a regional water utility company.

The situation on the third tier remains extremely tense as the active phase of the military operation continues in the area around the Mayorska pump station, the spokesperson said.

“There is no water in Vuhledar, Volnovakha, Novotroitsk, Dokuchayevsk and the neighboring villages; also, there are no water supplies in Krasnoarmiisk, Selydove, Dymytrove, Novohrodivka as the canal is still being filled up. So far efforts to restore water supplies in Avdiyivka and the neighboring villages have failed. The area is serviced by the Donetsk filtering station which is still shut down,” the statement said.

The ongoing hostilities have left specialists unable to restore the Novostozhkivsky water supply system which supplies water to Torez and Shakhtarsk.

By Thursday morning water supplies in Horlivka remained limited, with the city getting only 50 percent of its usual volume.

Efforts are underway to restore water supplies in Debaltseve.

As for Donetsk and Makiivka, water supplies there have been limited.
