Militants of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic shelled Stanytsia Luhanska overnight which damaged power lines, gas pipelines, and wounded a local policewoman.

“Yesterday [July 8] at night, Stanytsia Luhanska was once again shelled by militants of the so-called LPR. The fire from grenade [launchers], machine guns and firearms was conducted from the right bank of the Siversky Donets [river]. Power and gas pipe lines were damaged in the central part of the town, a few streets don’t have power and gas (maintenance brigades have been working there since morning),” the press service of Head of Luhansk Military-Civilian Administration Hennadiy Moskal reported on July 9.

According to the press service, after midnight, several grenades exploded in the yard of the house where the policewoman lived. She sustained a shrapnel wound and received medical help on site.

In addition to Stanytsia Luhanska, military actions occurred in Krymske where the battle lasted for an hour. A firefight took place a few kilometers from the town, leaving one Ukrainian soldier wounded. The serviceman was taken to a hospital.

“Other traditional hot spots of the region remained rather calm – firefights and shelling were local, without significant consequences,” the press service reported.

Moskal’s press service also reported that five persons serving life sentences have escaped from a penal colony in occupied Luhansk. All the escapees committed murders of two or more people.
