The Comr, a ship with a crew including six citizens of Ukraine, has been detained off the coast of Egypt for violating its territorial waters, according to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

“According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, the Egyptian coast guard on April 4 detained the Comr, the crew of which includes six citizens of Ukraine,” Acting Director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s Information Policy Department Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing on Tuesday, April 9.

According to local authorities, the grounds for detention were the repeated violation of Egypt’s territorial waters by the ship. At the moment, the matter is being settled with local authorities, and representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt have already visited the Ukrainian sailors.

The sailors have been provided with drinking water and food in sufficient quantities. There have been no claims or complaints, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.
