You're reading: Shoigu arrives in Crimea, inspects Black Sea fleet facilities

 Simferopol - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, accompanied by a group of Russian Defense Ministry heads, has arrived to the Crimean peninsula during his working visit to forces of the Southern Military District, where the minister inspected a number of facilities and military posts of the Black Sea fleet.

 Shoigu has also met with heads of the Russian regions – Crimea and Sevastopol – in particular, with Crimean Prime Minister Sergei Aksionov, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Konstantinov and Sevastopol Mayor Alexei Chaly.

The Russian defense minister and the Crimean and Sevastopol leaders have discussed issues of cooperation on ensuring the social infrastructure development of the fleet.

Meanwhile, the Crimean and Sevastopol authorities have described the situation in the region to Shoigu, having said that the situation is generally calm and people are carrying out work activities planned.
