Thirty-two investment projects worth $7 billion are currently being implemented in Ukraine, Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Dmitry Shymkiv has said.

“The portfolio of international financial institutions, which is at the stage of implementation, currently consists of 32 investment projects that were attracted to the state under state guarantees, totaling $7 billion, and three investment projects were signed this December alone,” he said at a press briefing on Dec. 25.

He said that the issue concerned projects on the reconstruction of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline, a loan from the European Investment Bank to small and medium-sized businesses and a loan program to restore Ukraine’s economy.

“In addition, two more systemic projects are also being worked out. The issue concerns a $500 million [loan] from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for financial sector development policy, and a $500 million loan for development policy – also from the IBRD,” he said.

Shymkiv noted that the IMF mission would visit Ukraine in January 2015 to discuss the next tranche delivered to Ukraine. In addition, work is ongoing over a possible partnership and investment agreement with Japan.
