Deputy head of the presidential administration Dmitry Shymkiv has criticized the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers to increase the cost of a 3G license from Hr 2.4 billion to more than Hr 3 billion.

“The Cabinet has a great desire to increase the requirements for the cost of each band from Hr 2.4 billion (proposed by the NCCR) to over Hr 3 billion. Today operators are working on the Ukrainian market and are paid in the local currency, their profitability is falling as the economy is falling. To require them to index investment is a crazy unprofessionalism. The story of 3G is the story of how the opportunity to attract investment and create at least the imitation of an attractive investment climate can be destroyed,” he wrote on his page on Facebook.

Shymkiv noted that the only factor constraining the holding of a tender is the signing of the relevant decree by the prime minister.

As reported, on Nov. 18 the NCCR approved the final terms of the tender for 3G licenses. The conditions must be approved by the government.
