Police have found and seized over 250 bottles containing incendiary mixture, baseball and home-made bats, two pistols of an unidentified make," the spokesperson said.

There are five State Security officers inside the building who will provide its further security, the police also said.

“At this stage, the situation in the town council and the adjacent area is quiet and under control. The flags of Donetsk region and Mariupol are raised above the administration building,” the regional police said.

The Mariupol town council will resume work once there is order on the floors and in certain parts of the building, the spokesperson said.

It was reported that five people were injured during the effort to free the Mariupol council building in the early hours of April 24.

The council was reportedly taken over by representatives of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic of April 13.
