You're reading: Situation in Donetsk remains tense

The situation in Donetsk remained tense on July 7. There was less traffic on the streets, and there were fewer passengers on public transportation after some state institutions and private firms were shut for security reasons.

There were large numbers of armed men in camouflage uniforms on the streets some of whom traveled through the city on vehicles without license numbers and others used public transportation, which operated normally, with municipal and private buses and minibus services running as usual.

Nor were there obviously mass departures from Donetsk, with no more people than usual passing through bus stations or the rail terminal.

There were no lines at stores, which had sufficient stocks of food and other vital consumer goods.
