The number of Russians that Ukrainian border guards have denied entry at Ukrainian airports has sharply dropped in the past 24 hours, i.e. on the second day after Ukraine introduced a virtually total ban on visiting the country for Russian men aged from 16 to 60, a source from an airline flying to Ukraine from Russia has told Interfax.
“Over the second day of the ban, Ukrainian border guards denied entry to a total of nine passengers that both we and our partners have carried, including eight people in Odesa and one in Kharkiv,” the source said.
On the first day after the restrictions were introduced, about 100 air passengers from Russia were denied entry to Ukraine.
The source interviewed by Interfax explained the drop in the number of Russians barred from entering Ukraine on the second day by the fact that Kyiv has significantly relaxed the initially tough restrictions.
“Ukraine has introduced significant exemptions due to the Easter holidays, and more people have been able to enter Ukraine. While the ban was total on the first day, at the present time Ukrainian border guards are selectively applying the entry restrictions,” the source said.
