You're reading: South African ambassador sure Ukraine will prepare well for Euro 2012

Ukraine will be 100% ready to host the Euro 2012 European Football Championships South African Ambassador to Ukraine Andries Venter has said.

"Holding such events at the top level is a point of honor and prestige for any country that takes on their organization. That is why I am sure Ukraine will manage to organize the European championship," the diplomat said during a meeting with the employees of the Ukraine 2012 Information Center on Wednesday, reads a posting on the center’s Web site.

Venter noted that, in particular, Donbas Arena Stadium, which meets the highest international standards, the construction of the National Olympiysky Sports Complex and Boryspil International Airport, where terminal F is already operating and terminal D is being constructed, are evidence of Ukraine’s successful preparations for Euro 2012.

According to the ambassador, along with infrastructure development, the country should not forget another important part of the preparations – training staff for the tournament.

Venter also wished success to the Ukrainian national team under the leadership of Oleh Blokhin, and added that he would support it during Euro 2012.

"It would be very good if the team of the host country got as far as possible [in the competition]," the diplomat said.
