Moscow, March 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Soyuz-2 and Rokot space rockets will be put into service later this year, Space Forces spokesman Lt. Col. Alexei Zolotukhin told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"The Soyuz-2 rocket is almost ready to be put into service. The remaining problems will be resolved this year. There will be test flights of the Rokot rocket, which will be also be put into service in 2010," he said.

The Rokot will be used until the Soyuz-2.1B (an advanced modification of Soyuz-2) and Angara-1.2 become operational, Zolotukhin said.

The construction of the Angara launch pad continues at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, he said.

"Light and heavy Angara rockets will make up the bulk of Russian space launches in the future, together with medium Soyuz-2 rockets. They will carry payloads of the Russian Defense Ministry too," he said.
