Flights from Russia to Donetsk and Kharkiv have been suspended until stabilization is achieved in the two cities, head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine Denys Antoniuk told Interfax on May 5.

Air traffic between Donetsk and Moscow was put on hold on May 2.

“The airport did not initiate that process; it daily receives
information about cancelations of the aforementioned flights from the
organization supervising air traffic in Ukraine. We will announce the
resumption of Donetsk-Moscow flights once this information is posted,”
said a report citing the Donetsk airport.

Earlier reports said Russia’s Transaero airline had offered
passengers flying to Donetsk a free exchange of their tickets for
traveling to Rostov-on-Don as the city closest to Donetsk due to the
unilateral ban of Ukrainian aviation authorities on the flights of
Russian airlines to Donetsk and Kharkiv.

Aeroflot – Russian Airlines has stopped flying to Donetsk and Kharkiv until May 7 because of the ban.
