Twenty tanker cars derailed at the Horodysche railway station in Cherkasy region at 0635 on Aug. 22, triggering an oil spill, and 11 tank cars catching fire, the press office of the State Service for Emergency Situations has reported.

A call up of the entire staff of the fire and rescue service was announced due to the accident in Cherkasy region. Moreover, five fire and rescue units were sent from the neighboring Kirovohrad region. A fire train also departed from the Myronivka section of the Odesa railways.

Head of the State Service for Emergency Situations Serhiy Bochkovsky has left for the scene.

The fire is being extinguished.
