Two confined peat bog fires are being extinguished on a total area of 5.5 hectares in the Chornobyl Puscha forest area in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has said.

“The situation was under control as of 7.00 Kyiv time on July 7. Smoldering peat bog fires are being extinguished on two confined spots with a total area of 5.5 hectares [fires were put out on 0.5 hectares over the past day],” the report said.

Fifteen fire engines and 87 men, including ten fire engines and 67 men of the State Emergency Service, are working on the scene.
