You're reading: Subsidies on housing, utilities down in February

The total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in January and February 2013 amounted to Hr 27.7 million, which is Hr 8.5 million, or 23.5 percent, less year-over-year, the State Statistics Service reported on Wednesday.

According to the statistics service, in January and February 2013 subsidies were allocated to 165,100 families. This is 92.4 percent of the total number of families that applied to receive subsidies, and 4.8 percent less than over the same period last year. Some 63.7 percent of families that received subsidies in January and February 2013 consist of one person.

The average size of a grant for compensation of payments for housing and utility services for one family in February 2013 was reduced by 33.4 percent, to Hr 136.40 year-over-year.

The largest subsidies in February 2013 were registered in Kharkiv, Lviv, Rivne and Kyiv regions (Hr 234.70-247.70), the smallest – in Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions (Hr 22.30 and Hr 39.60 respectively).

As reported, the total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in 2012 came to Hr 292.4 million, which is Hr 25.6 million or 8.05 percent down on 2011.
