The Third Interregional Miropolska Fair, which was visited by 10,000 guests, and in which entrepreneurs from six Ukrainian regions and two bordering regions of Russia participated, was held in the village of Miropol on Aug. 13-14 (Sumy region).

"In a couple of years the Miropolska Fair will be a competitor to the Sorochynska [Fair, in Poltava region]. I see us getting closer to this over the years. Today, we’ve revived the tradition of holding fairs in Sumy region. This is a nice impetus to the development of villages and improving the standard of living of rural communities. What’s more, we’re supporting and developing the traditions of cooperation with Russian border areas," the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Yuriy Khmyr, told journalists.

The various factory products on display including clothes and furniture.

Handicraft, souvenirs, seedlings and food were also presented at the fair’s three hundred stalls. Moreover, during the fair, ten sports competitions were held.

The village of Miropol, which was founded in 1650 on the bank of the river Psil, was earlier a small town.

From the end of the XVII century three fairs were held in the village, and at the beginning of the XIX century five fairs were conducted there every year.

The Russian border is one kilometer from Miropol.
