Representatives of an international committee for the protection of U.S. citizen Robert Fletcher, the founder and president of the Global Systems Training, has demanded that the U.S. businessman be released from custody.

“We demand that the theft of our assets be ended and Fletcher be released from custody so that he can fulfill his duties,” the committee’s representative, Svitlana Korzh, said, reading the committee’s manifesto at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

She said that the committee is picketing the Interior Ministry, an appeals court and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, and added that the text of the manifesto demanding the end of the criminal prosecution of Fletcher had already been submitted to the ministry and the embassy.

“We are indignant at the chaos and corrupt schemes at the law enforcement agencies,” Korzh said, adding that the committee believes the arrest of Fletcher was illegal.
