You're reading: Tabachnyk says corruption when entering universities now impossible

In the 2013-2014 education year, for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine, draft orders on the acceptance of students into universities will be made in an electronic regime, making corruption impossible, Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk has said.

“This year the formation of draft orders of acceptance will be done in electronic form for the first time in the 22 years since Ukraine gained independence, and any media can receive these orders regarding any [education] establishment via an inquiry to the ministry. The computer will register the order,” he said at the press conference on Thursday.

The minister again said that today corrupt actions at the higher education establishments are practically impossible.

“There is not even the smallest loophole for corruption,” he said.

Tabachnyk added that if there are complaints from university entrants about the violation of procedure of their acceptance to the universities, the ministry will hold a very rigorous inquiry, and if necessary the corresponding order about the acceptance will be cancelled.

The minister emphasized that this refers to every university.

“Is there any sense in going to any of the heads of education establishments with hryvnias or other currency? They will do nothing,” Tabachnyk said.
