Heads of the Ukrainian-U.S. Sea Breeze 2010 military exercises Rear Admiral Viktor Nosenko and Commodore Daniel Shebler have said they are satisfied with the exercises, the department for press and information at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reported on Thursday.

"We have completely fulfilled the tasks of the exercises," the leaders of the Ukrainian and the U.S. sides said.

According to Rear Admiral Nosenko, the difficult tasks of the participants in the exercises over almost three weeks are complete, and it is possible to speak about the results: "In spite of the large territory over which various phases of the exercises were held, and the fact that forces from various countries were involved in them, [and] in spite of the heat, all participants performed well," he said.

U.S. Commodore Daniel Shebler, in turn, noted he was surprised at the high level of training of Ukrainian sailors, marine brigades and pilots.

"I’m proud I had a chance to work with Ukrainians, and hope next year we will also carry out tasks together," he said.

The Ukrainian-U.S. Sea Breeze 2010 military exercises were held from July 12 through July 23. The main purpose of the exercises was to practice planning and conducting anti-piracy operations. The exercises involved servicemen from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Denmark, Moldova, Poland, Turkey and Sweden. In addition, an Austrian military expert took part as an observer.
