The European Union expects the new team of the Ukrainian government to address problems in cooperation with the EU and actively conduct reforms.

Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira said at a press conference at the Institute of World Policy in Kyiv on Wednesday that the EU was concerned about the failure to hold proper reforms in Ukraine.

"We’re heard a lot about the intentions and plans that were developed by the present government, and the EU has for several years supported these reforms," he said.

However, the European diplomat said that their improper implementation had resulted in the suspension by the EU of a significant part of technical assistance to the Ukrainian side.

"We’re in a situation where the advice and consultations provided by the EU are not taken into account," he said.

He recalled that the Ukrainian government had seen some changes and expressed hope that the updated Cabinet of Ministers would make every effort to improve the situation in this regard.

"I very much hope that this new team will be able to can solve problematic issues that exist today in the field of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, so that we can resume the provision of assistance to Ukraine, and that respective reforms needed for the country’s European integration will be conducted," Teixeira said.
