You're reading: Temporary presidium elected in parliament, five factions formed

Five factions have been formed in the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, in particular, the factions of the People's Front, the Opposition Bloc, Samopomich, the Radical Party and Batkivschyna.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that a respective announcement had been made by Volodymyr Hroisman, who is presiding at a parliamentary meeting on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The People’s Front faction includes 83 MPs, and it is led by Oleksandr Turchynov.

The Opposition Bloc faction includes 40 deputies, and Yuriy Boiko was elected as its leader.

The Samopomich faction is composed of 32 MPs and is led by Oleh Bereziuk.

The Radical Party faction in parliament includes 22 MPs, and its chairman is Oleh Liashko.

The Batkivschyna faction of 19 MPs is headed by Yulia Tymoshenko.

Hroisman said that the documents on the creation of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction had not yet been submitted.

Before that, the parliament elected a temporary presidium, which includes representatives of all groups and factions in the Verkhovna Rada. In particular, it includes Andriy Parubiy (the People’s Front), Andriy Lavryk (Samopomich), Oleksandr Vilkul (the Opposition Bloc), Yuriy Shukhevych (the Radical Party), and Andriy Kozhemiakin (Batkivschyna).

A total of 370 out of 404 MPs voted for a resolution on the creation of a temporary presidium.
