You're reading: The UN Refugee Agency to open office in Luhansk region

The UN Refugee Agency (the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR) is planning to open an office in the city of Severodonetsk (Luhansk region) to respond rapidly to the needs of displaced people in the region, the press service of the agency has said.

According to the press service, UNHCR and Luhansk Regional State Administration on October 10 signed a memorandum of cooperation.

‘In the framework of cooperation the program of one-time financial assistance and fiscal support in the form of grants for small entrepreneurs to restore or start business will be implemented in Luhansk region. The agency will also continue to provide humanitarian aid in the form of warm clothes for the most vulnerable internally displaced persons,’ reads the report.
