Polish Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has said that Poland is ready to assist Ukraine in strengthening its defense sector.

“This was stated by [Polish] President Bronislaw Komorowski in conversation with [Ukrainian counterpart] Petro Poroshenko and [Polish] Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz that Poland is ready to assist Ukraine, we are ready to ensure that our military and industrial complex should present its proposals to Ukraine. We will work on it,” he told reporters in Lublin on Dec.18.

Poland also wished that other NATO countries were involved in this process, he said.

“We will talk about it a lot. So far, we are giving what the Armed Forces of Ukraine need most,” the Polish minister said. He referred to the assistance worth PLN 14 million, as well as the Polish humanitarian convoy which was sent to refugees from Donbas.

In his words, Poland was trying to provide technical assistance, and its defense industry was ready to sell its products to Ukraine.

Polish Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has said that Poland is completely ready to accommodate Ukrainian and Lithuanian military personnel who will serve in the joint Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade.

“I am very pleased that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko managed to see the infrastructure, and that everything is ready for the arrival of Ukrainian and Lithuanian officers,” he said in Lublin on Thursday after the Ukrainian delegation headed by Poroshenko visited the base of the future joint brigade.

He noted that he was interested in the speedy arrival of Ukrainian and Lithuanian military personnel.

“I think that after today’s statements by Mr. President Poroshenko, it will be the first months of next year,” Siemoniak said, speaking about the beginning of the brigade’s work.

He said that the first Ukrainian group would include 18 officers, and that the question of sending them to Poland would be discussed by the defense ministries of the two countries next week.
