The international checkpoints of Shehyni and Rava-Ruska have been transferred to an enhanced mode of work due to the blocking of the Krakovets checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, the press service of the Income and Tax Ministry of Ukraine has said.

According to the report, on February 19, after midnight, barricades
of burning tires were built before the Krakovets international crossing
point, which led to a halt of the traffic in both directions.

“The ministry appeals to the citizens, whose actions provoked a
complete stop of any movement of passenger and freight transport through
this section of the border, asking that they unblock the work of the
customs authorities and allow the ministry officers to take measures to
resume traffic,” reads the report.

The ministry stressed that the Krakovets checkpoint is crossed every
day by over 2,000 cars and 500 trucks, and “the blocking of its work
causes inconvenience to the citizens of Ukraine and the European Union,
because limits their ability to freely enter and exit through the
western border of Ukraine.”

In addition, obstructing the work of customs posts creates force
majeure for those companies and businesses that planned their freight
traffic in advance through international checkpoints.
