The State Traffic Police have recommended Ukrainian drivers should no make long-distance trips since the heat can affect their health or cause a car breakdown.

"We are asking all drivers, especially those who do not have air conditioning in their cars, not to take long-distance trips unless there is an urgent need for them to do so," the press service of the traffic police told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

The traffic police are also asking owners of older cars with unreliable cooling systems not to use their cars for a while.

Drivers are also required not to park by the woodland, as a cigarette or a spark from an engine can start a wildfire.

The press service said that authorities of certain regions had already barred heavy trucks from entering local villages and towns.
