The members of the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for settling the conflict in Ukraine, which met in Minsk on Sept. 4, agreed upon a final draft document on the withdrawal of weapons smaller than 100mm in caliber in Donbas, a source from the subgroup told Interfax.

A compromise document taking into account recommendations from all conflicting parties has been agreed upon. It has been formulated based on a blueprint drawn up during the subgroup’s previous meeting, with amendments submitted by various parties,” the source said.

The subgroup’s coordinator from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will report the results of the subgroup’s meeting to the Trilateral Contact Group members and hand them the text of the document for consideration, he said.

“The Contact Group participants will receive the draft document to study it and prepare it for initialing, which, under favorable circumstances, may take place as early as on Sept. 8,” he said.
