You're reading: Turchynov forecasts international isolation for Crimea

Russia wants to fully isolate Crimea from Ukraine and the entire civilized world, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Chairman and Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov said.

“This isolation will lead to the peninsula’s economy being totally
ruined,” he said in an interview with the Rada television channel.

The international status of Crimea will not change, no matter what,
Turchynov said. “It will have the status of an annexed territory, i.e.
this status will not be recognized by any self-respecting nation,” the
acting president said, adding that as a result the peninsula will be
“fully closed to any international investment.”
