Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov has referred for consideration by parliament a draft resolution on depriving deputies who visited the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Sept. 17 of the right to participate in the plenary meetings and to receive their salary.

“Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov referred for the consideration by parliament a draft resolution on depriving the traitor deputies, who participated in the work of the Russian State Duma on Sept. 17 this year, of the right to participate in the plenary meetings and obtain their salary for the period of their non-participation in the work of the committees, commissions and factions of parliament,” said Turchynov’s press service on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Besides, the parliamentary speaker also addressed the Prosecutor’s General Office of Ukraine, the Internal Affairs Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine with a request “to provide a legal evaluation of traitorous activity, promotion of separatism and aggression against Ukraine on the part of these people’s deputies.”

“On Sept. 17, 2014 a group of people’s deputies – members of the deputy group “For Peace and Stability” met with the Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin and participated in the meeting of the State Duma, having demonstrated their collective standing that actually was confined to supporting current Russian government that has released and continues aggression against Ukraine,” the document said.

“Owing to their efforts, the history of Ukrainian parliamentarianism gained a new black page. Their actions, committed under a dubious claim of a peaceful mission, have blemished Ukrainian parliamentarianism and betrayed the people of Ukraine who have become the victim of unprovoked aggression on the part of authoritarian aggression,” the draft resolution reads.

The draft resolution “On the breach of the duties by individual MPs of Ukraine” was registered at the parliament on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

As of Sept. 17, 36 MPs are members of the deputy group “For Peace and Stability”, a majority of whom earlier were the members of the Regions Party faction. Some are deputies who left the Communist Party prior to enter the deputy group.
