You're reading: Turchynov: Rada to hold extraordinary meeting on July 31

The extraordinary session of the Ukrainian parliament is to be held on Thursday, July 31, Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

The press service of the speaker has reported that the decision to hold the session next Thursday was made due to the necessity of considering draft laws on amendments to the national budget and the Tax Code which were not adopted after the collapse of the coalition.

“However, without the approval of the decisions it is impossible to provide for the proper financing of Armed Forces of Ukraine, restore settlements destroyed by terrorists in the eastern part of Ukraine and settle other urgent issues,” the speaker said.

Turchynov said that the issue of the ratification of the agreement on the use of Civilian Police forces signed by Ukraine and Australia, which will allow the Australian police to stay in the Malaysia Airlines aircraft crash zone.

“It is not ruled out that on Thursday we’ll discuss staff issues, in particular, the application on resignation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk,” Turchynov said.

The press service of the Ukrainian president reported that it is planned that the extraordinary session will be held in a partially closed mode.

In the course of the planned meeting on Friday, July 25, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk together with heads of factions discussed the scheme of interaction between the branches of state power under the absence of coalition in the Parliament. All heads of factions adopted a common decision to hold the extraordinary plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada next Thursday, the press service said.

According to the report, the participants of the meeting agreed to immediately re-consider the draft laws On amendments to the Law of Ukraine, On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2014 and On amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and several other legislative acts of Ukraine.
