A draft resolution on the early termination of powers of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.

Acting President of Ukraine and Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov registered the resolution on Saturday.

According to an explanatory note, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine
in a decision of March 15, 2014 made a conclusion that the resolution
of the Supreme Council of Crimea on holding Crimean referendum is not in
line with the Ukrainian Constitution, namely Articles 1, 2, 5,8, part 2
of Article 19, Article 73, paragraph 3 of part 1 of Article 85,
paragraphs 13,18,20 of part 1 of Article 92, Articles 132, 133, 134,
135, 137, 138 of the Ukrainian Constitution.

“The early termination of powers of the Supreme Council of the
Autonomous Republic of Crimea will secure the observation of the
Constitutional law and order and it will promote stabilization of the
political situation in Crimea,” reads the note.
