Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has said that Ukraine has evidence of Russian involvement in the Maidan shootings.

“The orders were, in fact, given by [former Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych through [former Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy] Zakharchenko, through [former Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Oleksandr] Yakymenko, meaning the leaders of the Interior Ministry and SBU. Moreover, the SBU has evidence that high ranking officials from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) fully consulted with them,” Turchynov said in an interview with 1+1 TV channel.

According to Turchynov, a group of FSB officers who had trained with the Alfa special forces group was operating in Ukraine at that time.

“Moreover, the SBU has worked [on the possibility] that the known snipers who started shooting [at Maidan activists during protest rallies in 2014], are also representatives of Russian structures,” he added.
