The first deputy head of the Batkivschyna Party, former First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov, was summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office for questioning in connection with several criminal cases, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Pshonka has said.

"There are a number of criminal cases under which Turchynov was summoned to the investigation department," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that in particular, Turchynov had been summoned as part of an investigation into the case involving former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko’s driver, and added that the investigators had some questions for Turchynov as a former first deputy prime minister.

Pshonka said that he could not yet say under which criminal cases Turchynov was questioned.

"He was questioned as a witness in criminal cases. Let us maintain the secrecy of the investigation," he said.
