Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Foreign Minister of the Estonian Republic Urmas Paet and expressed conviction that May 25 elections will be held fairly and transparently throughout the country.

“Despite all the provocations of the Russian Federation and attempts to disrupt elections with the help of their terrorist groups operating in the East, we will ensure the holding of elections on May 25,” Turchynov said, adding that after presidential elections “the construction of a governmental architecture in the country will be fully completed.”

In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed prospects of Ukraine’s European development and the issue of visa regime liberalization for the citizens of Ukraine.

“The experience of a country that has already made its way from a post-Soviet to a European state is extremely important to us,” said Turchynov and stressed that expert assistance in this issue is also of great importance to the country.

In this context, Paet expressed conviction that the main part of the EU Association Agreement “will be quickly signed after the elections.”

Besides, the parties emphasized that the second stage of visa regime liberalization is beginning and it should end with the total abolishment of visas for Ukrainians by the end of the year.
