Ukraine's interim president Oleksandr Turchynov said on June 4 that government forces were beginning to seal the country's borders with Russia to prevent weapons from being smuggled in and militants from penetrating, and ensure the "localization of the terrorists."

Turchynov made the announcement at a checkpoint outside Sloviansk, Donetsk region, the BBC’s Ukrainian service said.

The central part of the frontier section in Luhansk region and the southern section of the border in Donetsk region would be closed off, he said.

“I’m convinced that the localization of the terrorists will be speeded up significantly,” Turchynov said.
