You're reading: Turchynov vows to prosecute paratroopers who laid down arms in Sloviansk

 Verkhovna Rada Chairman and acting President Oleksandr Turchynov has promised to bring to justice members of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade who laid down their arms in Sloviansk (Donetsk region).

“The 25th Separate Airborne Brigade, whose military showed cowardice
and surrendered their weapons, will be disbanded, and the military who
are guilty of this will stand trial,” he said, while opening a
parliament meeting on April 17.

Earlier media reported that the 25th airborne brigade deployed near
Sloviansk had taken the side of armed men who seized a number of
administrative buildings in the town.
