Chairman of the National Council of Turks-Karapapaks of Ukraine (a Turkic-speaking sub-ethnic group of Azerbaijanis who mainly live in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and in northeast Turkey), Dashgyn Gulmammadov, has said that the Turkic peoples are ready to help Ukraine to protect its territorial integrity.

“We’re ready to assist the Ukrainian army, providing from 2,000 to 5,000 volunteers, who are ready to take an oath to defend territorial integrity of Ukraine and the rights of the Crimean Tatars,” he said at the press conference in Kyiv on March 19.

As Gulmammadov said, ordinary Turkic people all over the world are indignant at Crimea’s occupation by Russia and said that such actions are aimed against Crimean Tatars as well.

That’s why he said that thousands of Turkic volunteers, who live in Germany, Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan, are ready at any time to come to Ukraine and help to defend the state and Crimean Tatars.

“Not just the destiny of Ukraine and its territorial integrity are at stake in Crimea, but the destiny of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan,” he added.

In turn, Head of the “The Future of Azerbaijan Party” Agasif Shakiroglu added that Azerbaijan state supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and thinks that Crimea is an integral part of the Ukrainian state.
