Twelve Chornobyl cleanup workers, who have announced a hunger strike near the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Friday are to return to their homes.

"Twelve people, who were on a dry hunger strike, I am the twelfth, have departed for home," a protester, Mykola Kostev, told Interfax-Ukraine.

"I’m at the emergency aid unit now, my body temperature is 40 degrees, and they will send me either to hospital or home. We have been on hunger strike for nine days, including one day refusing water," he added.

The protester added that 35 people are continuing to hold a protest near the Cabinet of Ministers.

As reported, Chornobyl cleanup workers are demanding an increase in their pensions under court rulings.
