Two Ukrainian climbers were killed during the ascent in mountains in Georgia, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported.
“According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia, on July 17, when a
group of four Ukrainian climbers made a descent from the peak of Ushba
mountain (Georgia) a rope snapped at an altitude of 3,600 m, resulting
in the deaths of two citizens of Ukraine,” the press service of quoted
the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Oleksandr Dykusarov.
Rustavi-2 TV Channel reported earlier that four climbers from Kyiv
made the ascent of Ushba on July 13. Two of them fell into a gorge.
