The Ukrainian Embassy in Russia has sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding the detention of two Ukrainian citizens during the Sept. 21 anti-war march in Moscow.

On Sept. 23, the Ukrainian Embassy in Russia received a petition from President of the Volunteers Foundation of Ukraine Tymofiy Nahorny stating that he participated in the Peace March on September 21 in Moscow and was detained together with his assistant Kyrylo Hohol, Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis told Interfax-Ukraine adding that the two Ukrainians hadn’t got in touch since then.

According to Perebyinis, the Russian Interior Ministry refused to give its comments on the situation on the phone.

“In this regard, the Embassy of Ukraine has sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry asking it to provide an explanation of the reasons and circumstances of the detention of the citizens of Ukraine and their whereabouts,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

He said that after receiving the required information, the Consulate would demand a meeting with the detainees.
