Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has asked Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko to veto the laws granting a special status for parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the amnesty.

“I am asking Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko to veto these laws and thus protect Ukraine,” Tymoshenko told a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, Sep. 17.

She said she is well aware that the laws were proposed precisely by the president and that the parliament passed these laws thanks to “the heavy pressure from the Ukrainian president on Verkhovna Rada deputies.”

At the same time, the party leader stressed that “it is still not too late to return to pro-Ukrainian patriotic positions and impose a veto on these two laws.”
