The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko has confirmed that Taras Shepitko, deputy head of the State Customs Service’ regional energy customs department, has been released from custody.

Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko.

According to Verkhovna Rada Deputy Andrii Kozhemiakin from the bloc, the release of Shepitko became possible due to a decision endorsed by Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district court and due to the actions of deputies of the bloc who came to the pre-trial detention center.

Kozhemiakin further said the release of Shepitko was also facilitated by institution of a criminal case by the Prosecutor General’s Office against an investigator of the Security Service of Ukraine.

“The release of Shepitko has been achieved also due to the actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which instituted a criminal case against a detective of the SBU for unlawful actions,” he said.

Kozhemiakin did not say who of detectives of the Security Service of Ukraine is facing a criminal case and what actions were unlawful.

As Ukrainian News reported, earlier the Security Service claimed it has fulfilled the ruling of Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district court on suspension of investigative actions within the case upon appropriation of 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas by officials of the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company, and released deputy head of the energy regional customs department Taras Shepitko from custody.

The press service of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko said soon after that the report from the SBU about the release of Shepitko did not correspond to fact.
