Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said she will never allow the privatization of Ukraine's gas transportation system.
"Wherever I am – in power or in opposition – I will never allow the privatization of our gas transportation system, the formation of any international consortiums, or any other encroachments by other states on our gas transportation system, because it is our national treasure, which must always remain in the state ownership of Ukraine," Tymoshenko said in a statement concerning the inadmissibility of the privatization of Ukraine’s GTS, which was posted on the government’s Web site on Monday.
The premier said that all the rumors that Ukraine might sell the GTS were rumors started because of the presidential election campaign.
