The state of health of former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has stabilized, German Charite Clinic doctor Lutz Harms has said.

“We’ve noticed some stable improvement. But we’ve been treating Tymoshenko for only six weeks since the end of her hunger strike. Her condition depends on a number of factors. We can see improvement, but we’ll see how the illness progresses further,” Harms told journalists on Monday.

He said the Charite Clinic doctors are disappointed by the results of the treatment.

“But in a case in which a disease has become chronic as it had not been treated for several months, we could not expect any breakthroughs within such a short period,” he added.

Earlier on Monday, Tymoshenko’s defense lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko said that his client’s health condition has worsened.

“After communicating with Yulia Volodymyrivna for an hour [on Monday until dinner] I got a firm impression that her state of health has worsened because of all hassles, stress and tests. People are constantly coming to her and telling her what she must do and what she shouldn’t do, constantly telling her something, always disturbing her etc. Of course, she’s constantly under stress. What kind of treatment are we talking about?” Vlasenko told a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine.
