UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino has said he was impressed with the changes made to the main arena of Euro-2012, the Olympiysky national sports complex (Kyiv), during its reconstruction.

"When I saw the updated stadium, I caught my breath and words failed me. This is a nice arena with an excellent atmosphere. The changes that have occurred at the Olympiysky stadium since my last visit are impressive. No doubt this is one of the most beautiful stadiums for the championship finals and the spectators coming here in summer will see this," he told in an interview with the stadium’s press service.

"Although the stadium is not exclusively for football, and at first I even feared that the athletic tracks would hold the spectators away from the field, but now it seems that everything is close. The wonderful roof, the seats in national colors, the comfortable dressing rooms – all this makes the stadium special. This is an arena of the highest European level," said Infantino.

According to him, in spite of the doubts of the UEFA representatives regarding the timely completion of the construction and reconstruction of Ukrainian stadiums, everybody believed that Ukraine would cope with this task.

"We trusted in Ukraine in April 2007, when UEFA chose the country and Poland for holding Euro 2012. Of course, there were doubts since that moment, but even that time I was confident that the Euro 2012 championship would be held here. And now we see the confirmation," he said.
