Ukrainian International Airline (UIA) in January 2013 will lease two Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft made in 2012, which were previously leased by AeroSvit Airline (both airlines based in Kyiv), the press service of UIA has reported.

The carrier will take the aircraft under conditions of operation leasing for a period of 12 years from a European leasing company, the name of which is not being disclosed.

The press service of UIA told Interfax-Ukraine that AeroSvit returned the aircraft to the leasing company.

According to the report, the first aircraft expanded the UIA’s fleet on January 11, 2013. The aircraft has passed an official registration procedure in Ukraine and obtained registration number UR-PSЕ. The next aircraft (registration number UR-PSF) arrived on January 14, 2013.

Thus, the airline’s fleet by the end of January 2013 will include 21 medium-haul Boeing -737 planes.

The said planes can fly 180 passengers and have economy and business class seats. The planes have the new Boeing Sky Interior decoration.

It is planned that under the fleet upgrade and expansion program of UIA, another two Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft will arrive in April-May 2013. Thus, at the start of the summer schedule of 2013 the number of Boeing 737-800 aircraft of the UIA’s fleet will total eight.

“In the summer season one third of the UIA’s fleet will be Boeing 737 next generation aircraft with high exploitation efficiency, economy and passenger comfort. Of course, this will promote the realization of the strategic plans of the airline,” reads the report, citing Vice Executive President for Strategy and Development at UIA, Yevhen Treskunov.

He said that the realization of the program will allow UIA’s route network to expand considerably, including new routes to Eastern and Southern Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, the CIS counties, Caucasia and Central Asia, which will also expand a list of transit possibilities of UIA.

Ukraine International Airlines was founded in 1992. Its fleet consists of 21 medium-ranged Boeing 737. The airlines operates flights to 40 capitals and cities of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the CIS. It also services connecting flights with routes of its international partners in more than 3,000 cities around the globe. Its main airport is Kyiv’s Boryspil International Airport.
