The UK government believes that English fans who visit Ukraine during the Euro 2012 will have a good time.

UK Minister for Sport Hugh Robertson said this on Sky Sports television channel on Tuesday, May 29 according to the Ukraine 2012 Information Center.

Robertson disagreed with the comments by the former England captain, footballer Sol Campbell, who had urged fans not to attend Euro 2012 matches in Poland and Ukraine, explaining his position by the problem of racism in these countries.

"They are not comments currently endorsed by the Foreign Office, who don’t put that advice out on their site," the minister said.

"My advice to any fan is to go, to go and support their team, to do everything to support their team. The more support they have, the more chance they have of winning. There has been a lot of work done behind the scenes that in the nicest way solve the problem… This has been done by the Home Office, this has been done by the police, by the Foreign Office in order to prepare for this [event]. There is no doubt this is going to be a testing period. We’ll have to see how it goes. But absolutely, at the moment, my advice to any fan is to go, have a really good time, but crucially to behave yourself as well," he added.
