You're reading: Ukraine and Belarus agree on enhancement of cooperation

Relations between Ukraine and Belarus will be based on friendship and good neighborliness, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has said.

“Our borders are the borders that do not divide but the borders of friendship. We will always be next to you as the friendliest state. And, based on this, we will build our relations. You must firmly know about this,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada said citing Lukashenko, following his meeting with acting President of Ukraine, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov in Lyaskovichi (Gomel region) on Saturday.

According to him, “the belt of neighborliness for more than 100 kilometers inside Ukraine is created around Belarus.”

Turchynov called it extremely important that “the third party from the territory of Belarus will never threaten Ukraine.”

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of strengthening bilateral relations in transport, energy spheres, supported the need to create joint ventures, stated the importance of increasing the volume of bilateral trade.
